First, check the calculator
to make sure it works and has fresh batteries. If the batteries
are weak or dead, the new program will not work properly.
If you can adjust the LCD display contrast to get a "snappy"
black display (use the contrast adjustment at the right end of the
calculator), the batteries are OK. If the characters displayed
are still dim and grayish, the batteries should be replaced.
Replacement batteries are available at Radio Shack and other
electronics/camera stores (two CR-2032 batteries are required for each
calculator).
See Battery
Replacement for details on how to replace the batteries.
If the calculator still does not work after the batteries have been
replaced, it should be returned
to PROM for service. Normal repair charges will apply.
-
(If you are configuring an
existing Software card, skip to step 4 below.) Remove the old
Software card by moving the "RAM Card Eject" switch on the
back of the calculator to the right.
Save this card -- it must be returned to PROM (a charge of US$ 39 will
apply to any cards not returned).
-
Install the new Software
card. Hold the card firmly in the back of the calculator and
slide the "RAM Card Eject" switch to the left to hold the
card in place.
-
Turn the calculator on and
press the "ALL RESET" button on the left side of the back of
the calculator. Use a sharp pencil or straightened paper clip to
press the recessed button.
-
Four stars will appear on
the LCD display. Press the "ENTER" key on the front of
the calculator.
-
One star will appear on the
LCD display. Turn the calculator off (using the power switch in
the upper-right corner), wait 3 seconds, and then turn in on again.
-
Press the "Setup"
function key. The calculator will configure the memory and
program (takes about 15 seconds) and then ask you to enter a code
number to set it up for the proper province and language:

4167 |
