| These "Classic" Sharp
Pocket Computers were made in the early to mid-1980's and there are
many, many thousands in use throughout the world. They are no longer
in regular production.
However, the programming language used in
both of these machines is very similar to the language used in the Sharp
PC-1270, and it is likely that a PC-1248 or PC-1250 program can be transferred
or modified (or may already exist) for a PC-1270.
Scan the list of developers
to locate the company that developed the PC-1248 or PC-1250 software
to find out if they offer the product in a PC-1270.
If you don't know or can't find the name of the original
developer, you can email us (use address at the bottom of
this page) and
we'll steer you to a developer that may be able to modify the
program you have so it will run on a PC-1270. Please include as much
information as you can about your existing program.
Writing
Programs: The BASIC programming language in the PC-1248 and
PC-1250 is very similar to that of the PC1270. We don't have books
for these older machines, but you can read or download our SBC
BASIC Reference Manual for the PC-1270 which has a good explanation of
the programming language. (Right-click the link to download the
manual - about 55 pages.)
Transferring a
Program: You can transfer an unprotected program (password is not set)
from a PC-1248 or PC-1250 to a PC-1270 with a CE-212M
8K RAM card and an EA-129C Cable.
Some programs may have to be modified to
run properly in the PC-1270.
